This vertical shaft of stone, shaped so much like a tree stump in the middle of nowhere, is strikingly impressive from afar. At the base of the nation's first national monument, you will find a visitor's center and a walking path encircling the towering rock. It is located just adjacent to the Wyoming Black Hills area.
