KG&E Oil Circuit Breaker
This frame-mounted 69-kV oil circuit breaker is of unknown vintage but probably associated with the surrounding substation steel's date: 1940s. It is near Wichita, Kansas and was built by Kansas Gas & Electric, now the southern division of Westar Energy, Inc. of Topeka. The other portion of this switchyard is 138-kV. The 138-kV portion has been re-built and is from the 1980s. Note the General Electric Thyrite stackable lightning arresters nearby mounted on lattice steel ground supports.
