This is a portion re-built of a 69-kV switchyard owned and operated by Westar Energy, near Wichita, Kansas. The portals of both bays shown in this photo are rated 138-kV. It is unknown as to the age of this newer switchyard, but is estimated to have been re-built in the late 1970s or early 1980s. When the newer portion of these bays were built, the facility was owned by Kansas Gas & Electric. Today it is owned by Westar Energy of Topeka and is part of the Southern Division of the company.
